I love my roomies!

Now that I finally do what I liked most - 'nothing' after quitting job last week, I have taken up blogging. This blog is devoted to the study of encounters I have had with my roomies and my colleagues had with their roomies over the last 6 years and which have prompted me to launch http://www.roomieintown.com/. All names will be changed to protect the weirdoes and eccentrics. Hopefully by reading this, you'll be introduced to the personality and daily habits of truly odd individuals that almost everyone of us get the privilege of being assigned to share a room with.
I would be outcasted like the Egyptian Hosni Mumbarak and Libyan Gaddafi when erstwhile and current roomies will get to know about the blog but that will be when it'll be. Till such time sit back and enjoy the read. I would love you guys to share your roomie stories and make it a dialogue rather than a monologue
P.S. During the course of reading, many of you might think that I've cooked stories for the blog but I didn't. The narrations are based on true incidents and with the exception of some minor poetic licence none of the events were fabricated in my imagination.

14000 Rent for 15 Days!

It was exactly 21st May 2005 when I landed in City of gardens, i.e. Bangalore to start my journey out of comfort of home and I was headed straight to JP Nagar Phase 3, the place where my college was. I've got fliers from many hostels and PG's once I made my mind to join ICFAI Business School Bangalore (or if aptly said, 'to put an end to my misery of studying for another year in quest of IIM').

We checked in many hostels and the guys already staying there kept on warning that facilities which look like at the moment are just eye candy and would disappear in a month, but my Dad was convinced with one hostel and deposited the advance. It was only after a week when admission hype was over and parents who came to settle me down left that I realised how good it is sometimes to respect elders (in this case read - 'SENIORS'). They were so true!!

  • The food started to become pathetic gradually

  • The housemaid was axed for no reason

  • Internet connection (2 ports for capacity of 30) just refused to impart any knowledge to us

  • And the Food continued to be pathetic... (My street Dog Jack refused to have it just like us)

Icing on the cake - 3 unrelated people living in a converted 2 room bedroom. Everyone only interested to take the best part of the room and almirah space and let everybody all Fcuk around. As I was anxiously looking at which corner would I confine to be for the next 2 Years, a big guy came from the inner room and patted me 'Hi, Im Mrinal, I would stay in the inner room as I have to study. there's somebody already there in so u'll have to stay in the hall' and he went back. I thought 'Fuck you Bhen De.. Main itthe kya bhajiya talne aaya hun'

I could not handle the things mentioned in Bullet points and the Roomies and I rushed out of Hostel in 14 days straight.

Total Loss: Rs. 10000 deposit (non refundable if hostel left before 1 year) + 4000 (one months rent)

I was 15 days veteran in Bangalore and already 14000/- down.
